About the event

American Sign Language (ASL) on the Farm Class for children will include: 

  • Learning the signs for animals and things around the farm
  • Short phrases and sentences children can use at school or at home
  • Language learning through dramatic play 
  • Cooperative learning games 
  • Healthy snack made with produce from the farm

Please note:  Parents/guardians are welcome to attend and participate, but must pay for a ticket to the class.  We also have shady sitting areas where parents/guardians can wait for the class to be complete.  

About the Instructor:   Mr. Shaffer is a person who is Hard-of-hearing and is aTeacher for Deaf and Hard-of-hearing students.  He has been using ASL for over twenty years and attended Gallaudet University, the world's only University for Deaf/Hard-of-hearing people.   Mr. Shaffer may have guest attendees who are native ASL users assist with this class.
