CSA Trial

Thank you for trialing out our Community Supported Agriculture program!   Check out what's going to be in your CSA box this Friday!

This week is all about salad!!  In your box you'll get a big bag of salad mix, spring onions, spinach, kale,  and the newest addition- green kohlrabi.   Don't worry; I put a kohlrabi recipe below, along with Spring Onion Salad and Egg Salad.

Spring Onion Salad

  • 4 spring onions

  • 1 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1.5 tablespoons rice vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

  • 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil

(or use 3 tablespoons of the pre-made Pa Muchim sauce that will come with this week's CSA box!)

  • Cut the "roots" off the onions.

  • Slice each onion in half, lengthwise.

  • Soak the onions in ice water for 30 minutes.

  • Transfer the onions to a bowl and put in the Pa Muchim sauce and mix well.

  • Let sit for at least one hour in the refrigerator.

  • Add toasted sesame seeds, more soy sauce, and/or seaweed flakes to taste!

Put the bonito flakes and seaweed in 1/2 cup of warm water and let soak for at least 10 minutes. Using a fork, mash the eggs, then add the rest of the ingredients, including the bonito flakes and seaweed that have been cut into very small pieces.   Mix well and enjoy!

*We will include a small amount of bonito flakes, sesame seeds, and dried seaweed in this week's box!

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 cup extra light olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustart

  • In a mason jar or medium bowl, crack 2 eggs and add the olive oil and dijon.

  • Using an immersion blender, whip the ingredients together until creamy and thick.  You may need to move the blender up and down to incorporate air into it.

Sauteed Kohlrabi

The easiest way to use fresh kohlrabi is to cut off the leaves, peel it, cut it and sautee it.   The New York Times has a great recipe HERE.
